The History of WACEM stems from the success of various Academic Initiatives taken by Organizations, Global Academicians and Researchers around the world.
INDUSEM was one such Academic Initiative which spearheaded the establishment of Academic Emergency Medicine in India.
INDUSEM hosted an Annual Meeting every year since 2005 which primarily started off with Academic Leaders from USA and India attending the meeting. Over the years many International Academicians from around the world attended this popular conference which resonated in the grand success of the INDUSEM Model.
It was very noticeable to Academicians that there was a need for a Global Organization which focused on Hard Core Academics in the field of Emergency Sciences. There was a need to unite all Academically Focused Educators, Researchers, Clinicians and Institutions across the world so that the science could progress and patients could be the end beneficiaries.
In 2014 it was decided by all Academicians from around the world that the INDUSEM Annual Academic Congress will be renamed as the World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine (WACEM Congress) and a new Academic Organization called The World Academic Council for Emergency Medicine would be founded.
The First WACEM Congress was held at New Delhi in 2015 where it was resolved to establish an Academic Organization called as the World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine.
In 2016 at Bengaluru India the 2nd World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine heralded the birth of The World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine.
The 2017 WACEM Congress was successfully held in Colombo Sri Lanka by the Government of Sri Lankan Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine. This is where the WACEM Founders finalized the constitution of WACEM.
If you are an Individual, Institution, Organization who is academically focused then please join WACEM.
